School Field Trips

School Field Trips

Take the lesson into a working makerspace.

Give students a reason to ask the next question. At Guild Hall, a field trip puts them inside the process of making: exploring a challenge, choosing an approach and finding out what happens when they test it. The excitement of a new environment becomes a practical connection to what you teach.

A school day they can build on

A visit with a learning goal behind the excitement.

We shape the visit around your grade band, curriculum and available time. Students work with real tools and materials, supported by STEM educators who help them connect an action to an idea. A robotics challenge, design task or introduction to fabrication can give an abstract concept something tangible to attach to. Agree the activities and standards connections with our team before the trip.

Investigate a challenge

Give students a clear purpose for the work. Robotics, drones, engineering and 3D printing are possible themes; we select an appropriate experience for your learners and schedule.

Build, test and revise

Students see how decisions affect a result. An unsuccessful attempt becomes evidence for the next design choice, with instructors helping teams move forward.

Explain the thinking

Make room for students to describe what they tried and what changed. These conversations connect the excitement of making to technical vocabulary and classroom discussion.

The value for your school

Bring a shared reference point back to class.

A field trip can give your class a common experience to revisit: a design constraint, a surprising test or a solution that improved through teamwork. Discuss the follow-up you want to build into your unit so the visit supports the learning that comes next.

From first conversation to program day.

  1. Share grade levels, student numbers and the unit or theme you want to support.
  2. Choose a studio, preferred dates and a half-day or full-day format.
  3. Confirm the activities, quote, transportation, chaperones and access needs before booking.

Questions from school teams.

Are tools and materials included?

Guild Hall provides the tools and materials for the agreed field-trip activities. Confirm the project scope and anything students should bring during planning.

Can the visit support our curriculum?

Yes. Share your learning goals and relevant standards so we can discuss the project and its classroom connections. Specific standards mapping is agreed for your program.

How do transportation and supervision work?

Coordinate school transportation and discuss arrival, chaperone responsibilities, access needs and student support with us before confirming the visit. These arrangements depend on your group and location.

Can you come to our school instead?

Yes. Our in-school STEM offering brings instructors, equipment and curriculum to your site. Explore that option if travel is a barrier.

Tell us what you want this experience to make possible.

Start with your audience, goals and preferred dates. We’ll help you choose a practical format and confirm the scope, availability and cost.
