Featured teaching opportunity

Coding & Engineering Instructor

For makers, tinkerers and curious educators who love helping young people discover how things work.

Enjoy taking things apart, putting them back together and exploring new technology? At Guild Hall Studios, you will use real-world tools and equipment to introduce students ages 8–18 to engineering, coding, design and making.

What you will do

Lead hands-on projects in an energized makerspace or camp classroom. Help students design, build, troubleshoot and improve their work while managing multiple projects, individual learning needs and classroom conflicts. Collaborate with fellow instructors and keep learning alongside your students.

Every learner and every project is different. This is challenging, active work that calls for patience, creativity and clear guidance—and offers the reward of watching a student gain confidence in their own ideas.

Experience and strengths

  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching teenagers in a maker classroom or summer camp setting.
  • The ability to build rapport with children, maintain classroom expectations and guide the design and building process.
  • Confidence organizing several projects and supporting different learning needs at once.
  • An understanding of basic science and engineering, a love of problem-solving and a curious, fun-loving approach.
  • STEM coursework or experience with Unity 3D, Arduino, Raspberry Pi or similar technologies is a plus.
  • A pre-employment background check is required.
